The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA), under the leadership of its Deputy Director General, Alhaji Dahiru Mani Bagiwa, has paid a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, to strengthen inter-agency collaboration aimed at improving road safety across the state.
The visit, held on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, focused on strengthening ties between the two institutions to ensure better traffic control, reduce accidents, and enhance public safety on Katsina roads.
During the visit, Alhaji Bagiwa described the Nigeria Police Force as the most critical security institution in the country, stressing that no road safety initiative can succeed without their partnership.
“The police are the foundation of security within any society. That is why we are here—to engage the Honourable Commissioner in meaningful dialogue on how KASSAROTA and the police can work hand in hand to protect lives and property on our roads,” he stated.
Speaking further in an interview with Katsina Times, Bagiwa clarified that the agency maintains peaceful and professional relationships with all security outfits in the state.
“We have no issues with any security agency; we cooperate with all of them. KASSAROTA is not here to create hardship but to protect citizens. We’re simply a new agency in Katsina, unlike in many other states where similar bodies have long existed,” he said.
He appealed to residents of the state to support KASSAROTA's mission, adding that government policies are meant to serve the public, not harm them. “Insha Allah, we will continue to educate the public about the importance of this agency until it is fully understood that our purpose is reform and safety,” he concluded.
Also speaking during the visit, the Secretary of KASSAROTA, Al’amin Lawal Batsari, emphasized that traffic safety is a collective responsibility that involves drivers, passengers, security agencies, and government authorities.
“Transportation is a vital part of life. Ensuring safety on the road is not the job of one agency alone. It requires synergy between all stakeholders,” Batsari said.
The delegation also included KASSAROTA’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Marwana K/Sauri, and the Katsina Zonal Commandant, Abdurraman Muntari.
